This year, we are happy to present the whole filmography of Rúnar Rúnarsson in the “From short to long” section. His short films, Ana and 2 birds were selected in 2008 and 2009 for the official competition of short films. In 2008, he was awarded the Grand Prix of the Essonne European Film Festival. Rúnar Rúnarsson comes back with his first feature film, Eldfjall (Volcano). He deals again with one of his favourite theme, rites of passage and transition periods in life. Anna and 2 Birds deal with the passage to adult life and Volcano, which has not yet been released in theatre, refers accurately and uncompromisingly to the age of retiring.
Born in Reykjavik Iceland, Rúnar Rúnarsson lived in Denmark for 7 years and graduated from the Danish Film School in 2009. Rúnar is probably the most awarded short film director in the world with 90 International awards received in the last three years. In 2008, he was awarded the Grand Prix of the European Film Festival in Essonne for his short film 2 Birds.
His first feature film, Volcano was selected in several great international festivals (Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, Toronto, Chicago, Warsaw, Munich). |
