BARRY PURVES réalisateur, animateur, scénariste

Né en 1955. Après des études de civilisation grecque et de théâtre à l’université de Manchester, Barry Purves commence à travailler comme régisseur et comme acteur dans de nombreux théâtres d’Angleterre. Dès 1986, il devient animateur freelance et réalise des publicités, des clips et des séquences d’animation pour des sociétés de production prestigieuses comme Aardman, Redwing, Granada et la BBC.
En 1989, il crée sa propre société « Bare Boards » avec laquelle il produira désormais la plupart de ses films. Barry Purves dirige également des ateliers d’animation dans tous les principaux studios américains (Dreamworks, P.D.I., Pixar et Will Vintons...). Ses films ont gagné plus de soixante prix internationaux et ont été nominés aux Oscars et aux BAFTA (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts).

Born in 1955. After studying Greek civilization and Theater at the University of Manchester, Barry Purves started working as a stage-manager and an actor in many theaters in England. From 1986, he became a freelance animator and directed commercials, music videos and animation inserts for major production companies such as Aardman, Redwing, Granada and the BBC.
In 1989, he created his own company called ‘Bare Boards’, which has produced most of his films since. Barry Purves has also taught animation workshops for major American studios (Dreamworks, P.D.I., Pixar et Will Vintons...). His films won over sixty international awards and were nominated for Oscar and BAFTA Awards (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts).
