Synopsis

Sous le nom de Melville retraces Melville's past during the Second World War and the impact that this personal experience of war and the Resistance had on his collective body of work as a filmmaker as well as, indirectly, that of his successors. The film features extracts of interviews with filmmakers such as Johnnie To, Volker Schlöndorff and Masahiro Kobayashi who shed light, with the benefit of hindsight, on Melville's oeuvre.
