Pascal, 53, and Carole, 28, are sheperds. In November 2010, they embark on their long winter transhumance: four months during which they will have to cover 600 km in the Swiss-French region, accompanied by three donkeys, four dogs and eight hundred sheeps. An exceptional adventure is about to begin. An eventful journey with surprise encounters, moving reunions with farmer friends, nostalgic figures of country life that is shrinking away fast.

In the old-fashioned way, such as this transhumance. But also the form of the documentary, as a western (whose territory would be Switzerland), reminds us of the issues of loss and the conquest of Modern world.

Manuel von Stürler

Born in Lausanne in 1968 and of Franco-Swiss nationality, Manuel von Stürler studied music then performed on stage in acoustic and electric groups. Exploring his creativity also took him on the discovery of the world, including two years as a nomad. This was an opportunity to rediscover his old love of the visual image and to direct a number of personal films. In 2008, he started out on the adventure, Hiver Nomade.
